DAY EXCURSION
TO TYPICAL
SHAN VILLAGES, LOTUS FABRICS, POTTERY AND TRIBES
What makes this Day Excursion enticing?
Enjoy the tours in the following villages:
- Kyauk Taing, a Shan
Village, living on pottery.
- Kyaing Kham, a small
village, home to
weavers of robes for monks, using fibres of thousands of lotus stems.
- Sangha (Sagah),
a village of Pa-O and
Intha tribes, the former administrative hub of the region under a
Shan Chieftain.

INLE LAKE –
KYAUK TAING – KYAING KHAM
– SANGHA (SAGHA) –
INLE LAKE
This morning, you will travel
approximately 3 - 4 hours in a boat,
depending on the water level and local conditions, to Sangha
(Sagha)and Thakong.
En route, there is an opportunity to visit a local
market if it coincide with the 5-day market (on market days only) at Kyauktaing,
a
Shan village, living on earthenware pottery.
Later, you will visit a family in Kyaing
Kham manufacturing
robes for Buddhist monks, by weaving fibres of
thousands of lotus stems. The next stop is a local
distillery where you will observe local method of producing
high degree alcohol from bran rice. During the rest
of the day, you will delve into the unspoiled culture and traditional life-style of the
ethnic Pa-O and Intha inhabitants around Sangha (Sagha)and Hmawbi. A
picnic lunch will be served at Thakong Pagoda.
Take delight in the beautiful landscape
and numerous settlements, dotted
on both sides of the canal on return to
your hotel at Inle
Lake. (L)

Important note:
- You will be travelling in a boat for a
minimum of 7 - 8 hours. The duration of
excursion depends on the level of water in
the water way from/to Inle Lake to/from Sangha (Sagha).
- As you will be travelling most of the time in
a boat without a roof, sunscreen with UV protection is highly
recommended.
