Day 1 Yangon  03 October 2006

Your Ah Nyar Thar Tour Guide will meet you on arrival at Yangon International Airport to accompany you to your hotel. This afternoon, an orientation drive acquaints you to the Historic Buildings of Colonial-Days and the Sule Pagoda, in the heart of Yangon. Take a short walking tour of the downtown and browse the hundred stalls of Bo Gyoke Aung San Market (also known as Scott’s Market). Afterwards, you will head for Chauk Htat Gyi Temple; there is time to marvel at a gigantic reclining Buddha image. Stop for photos at the Kandawgyi Gardens beholding the Karaweik Hall, a royal floating barge, and a backdrop of lush trees and an idyllic lake. The day ends at Shwedagon Pagoda, one of the fairest place and most spectacular religious monuments in the world, surrounded by an array of temples, shrines and pavilions. Take your time to be at this truly spectacular and remarkable highlight. Enjoy the dinner and overnight in Yangon. (D)

Day 2 Yangon – Bagan  04 October 2006

Rise before daybreak and you will be assisted to the airport for your flight to Bagan. Upon arrival in Bagan, transfer to your hotel for check-in. Highlights on this morning's tour include Shwezigon Pagoda, the prototype of pagodas in Myanmar, Wetkyi-in Gu Byauk Gyi Temple with fine tempera mural paintings depicting the life stories of Buddha, and Ananda Temple, the most aesthetically beautiful monument in Bagan. Enjoy a lunch at a riverside restaurant. In the afternoon, you may take a siesta or visit a lacquer craftsman’s workshop to discover the intricate process of making lacquer wares. Continue to Manuha Temple with a large seated Buddha Image, enshrined in a relatively small sanctum, illustrating the melancholy of a confined king, and Nanbaya Temple with noted perforated windows and friezes, a unique sandstone monument that is said to have been the residence of King Manuha. Next, you will proceed to Myingaba Gu Byauk Gyi Temple, a Mon-style temple renowned for its fine frescoes, preserved by UNESCO. A visit to Bupaya on the bank of Ayeyarwaddy River, a perfect spot to enjoy a magnificent sunset, will conclude the day. Enjoy a dinner at a local restaurant and overnight in Bagan. (B, L, D)

Day 3 Bagan – Heho – Inle Lake  05 October 2006

This morning, you will be assisted to the airport for your flight to Heho. Upon arrival at Heho Airport, a scenic drive to Inle Lake (25 km - 1 hour). Continue by boat to your hotel for check-in and enjoy a lunch. Later, you will proceed by boat to the monastery of Magyiseik Village to follow the procession of Phaung Daw Oo Buddha images to Kyaing Kham village where they will stop for overnight. An orientation boat ride on Inle Lake will include seeing the famous leg-rowers, typical floating gardens, local methods of fishing and village life. Return to you hotel. There is time to take a delight in a captivating sunset behind the mountain. Enjoy a dinner at your hotel and overnight on the lake. (B, L, D)

Day 4 Inle Lake  06 October 2006

Travel by boat in advance of the procession in pomp and pageant of Phaung Daw Oo Buddha Images to witness the picturesque Royal Barge, tucked by flotilla of boats from Kyaing Kham Village to Maing Pyo Village. The highlights of morning sightseeing on the lake are Phaungdaw Oo Pagoda, Nga Phe Chaung Monastery with a collection of ancient Shan-style Buddha images. A lunch at a local restaurant on the lake is followed by an excursion to the Indein Pagoda Complex. Follow a stair path lined up with magnificent columns to the top. Enjoy a dinner at your hotel and overnight on the lake. (B, L, D)

Day 5 Inle Lake- Kakku Pagoda Complex–Inle Lake  07 October 2006

Follow the procession of Buddha Images from Maing Pyo Village to Naung Taw Village. Afterward, take an excursion by boat and road to Taunggyi, capital of Southern Shan State and visit the Myoma Market the rendezvous of diverse for marketing their commodities. Continue on a bumpy road for approximately two hours and discover the forgotten ruins of Kakku Pagoda Complex in the deep Pa O territory. The legend has it that Kak Ku Pagoda Complex was built on some 2,000 years ago. You will lose count of the numbers of small pagodas, decorated with fine stucco work, which lies in parallel rows in an area of approximately one square kilometer. Unfortunately Kak Ku is in bad need of renovation but this is part of its charm. Lunch is taken at a local restaurant. A visit is also made to one of the many Pa O villages near Kakku to see a huge monastery on the way back to Taunggyi. Drive to Nyaung Shwe where you will board your boat for the return to your hotel. Enjoy a dinner at your hotel and overnight on the lake. (B, L, D)

Day 6 Inle Lake  08 October 2006

This morning is yours to relax and enjoy the serene ambiance of the lake. After an early lunch at your hotel, travel by boat to follow the procession of Buddha Images from Naung Taw Village to Inpawkhone Village where devotees will offer alms for lunch. In the afternoon, continue to Yay Thar Village. Afterward, take an excursion by boat to the sights such as blacksmiths, silversmiths, weaving looms, etc. There is time to imprint yet another fascinating sunset into your memory. Enjoy a dinner at your hotel and overnight on the lake. (B, L, D)

Day 7 Inle Lake – Heho – Yangon  09 October 2006

Rise early to be at the monastery in Yay Thar Village in time for the last stretch of procession of the Buddha images, returning to the shrine hall of Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda. Now is time to watch the regatta on the final day of this pagoda festival. Return to your hotel for check-out. Then, transfer by boat and road to Heho Airport (25 km - 1 hour). If time permits, you will make a brief stop at a monastery en route. Enjoy a lunch at a simple local restaurant. Relax during the flight with distinctive and varied aerial views over the mountain ranges with lush trees, the fertile plain, the rivers and the paddy fields of delta region. Upon arrival, you will be assisted to your hotel. Balance of the day at leisure to pursue your individual interests. Enjoy a dinner at your hotel and overnight in Yangon. (B, L, D)

Day 8 Yangon – Departure  10 October 2006

The tour ends this morning after breakfast. Transfer to Yangon International Airport for departure. (B)
